A tragic five-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Warren County claimed the life of a 59-year-old Miamisburg woman and left several others seriously injured during the Tuesday morning commute.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 6:05 a.m. on southbound I-75 near mile marker 38 in Franklin. Authorities say traffic had slowed along the interstate when a chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles unfolded, causing significant damage and bringing traffic to a standstill.
The victim was identified as Karen White, 59, of Miamisburg. Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lebanon Post responded to the scene alongside local fire and emergency medical personnel. Despite rapid emergency response efforts, White suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash also resulted in multiple serious injuries. A 25-year-old Dayton man sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by emergency medical personnel to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Authorities said his condition remained critical following the collision.
Three additional individuals were seriously injured in the wreck. Among them was a 40-year-old woman from Centerville, along with two occupants traveling from Michigan. Emergency crews provided treatment at the scene before transporting the injured victims to area hospitals for further care.
Officials noted that one driver involved in the crash escaped injury, making them the only person in the multi-vehicle pileup to avoid physical harm.
The collision caused major traffic disruptions during the busy morning rush hour, with southbound lanes experiencing lengthy delays while investigators examined the scene and crews worked to remove damaged vehicles from the roadway.
