The Greenup and Effingham communities are mourning the devastating loss of Paisley Grace Thoele, a beloved four-year-old girl whose bright spirit and loving heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Paisley passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, leaving behind a family and community grieving the loss of a precious child whose life, though brief, was filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories.
Born on April 28, 2022, in Effingham, Illinois, Paisley was the treasured daughter of Ryan and Lacey (Eggers) Thoele and the proud big sister of Porter Thoele. Family members describe her as a gentle, caring child who adored her little brother and watched over him with remarkable love and protectiveness.
Paisley was known for her adventurous spirit and deep love of the outdoors. A true country girl at heart, she cherished camping trips with her parents, riding her beloved pony Millie, swimming on warm summer days, and exploring nature. Every outdoor adventure brought excitement and wonder to her young life.
She also loved dressing up in princess gowns, singing songs, dancing around the house, and playing with makeup. Her infectious laughter, beautiful smile, and joyful personality brought happiness wherever she went. Friends and family remember her as a polite, compassionate child who always wanted to help others and be involved in whatever her parents were doing.
Among her closest companions was her cousin and best friend, Ella. Together, the two shared countless adventures filled with imagination, laughter, and love, creating memories that their families will forever cherish.
Paisley’s legacy extends far beyond her years. Those who knew her often say she truly embodied the meaning of her middle name, Grace. Her kindness, innocence, and ability to bring joy to others left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving parents, Ryan and Lacey; her brother Porter; grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many relatives and friends who adored her.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, at Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, with a private family funeral service to follow. As loved ones gather to honor her memory, they will remember a little girl whose light shone brightly and whose love will remain in their hearts forever. Paisley Grace Thoele will never be forgotten.
